When using a progression tool, the coil’s or lengths of material are fed into the press via a feeder. At each press stroke the material is fed on to the next stage of forming in the tool until all the stages are complete. The finished component is then released from the frame scrap and transferred out of press.
This process allows the component to remain firmly in place until all the required stages are completed. The use of pick up pins and pilot release on the material strip allows for very accurate pitching of components.
